About DEEJAYDEAD
Welcome
Welcome to DEEJAYDEAD.
If you are passionate about Gothic, Dark Wave, EBM, Industrial, Futurepop, Synthpop and related genres, you've come to the right place.
DEEJAYDEAD is not a faceless online retailer, but an independent music shop built by a passionate collector for fellow music enthusiasts.
For more than 35 years, this music has been a part of my everyday life. I still listen to new releases as well as timeless classics, follow the development of my favourite artists, and get excited whenever a special CD or vinyl record finds its way into the shop. That passion remains the foundation of DEEJAYDEAD today.
How It All Began
My journey into the dark alternative scene began more than 35 years ago.
It started with Dark Wave and Gothic artists such as Lacrimosa, Das Ich, Goethes Erben, Sopor Aeternus and Deine Lakaien. Over time, my musical horizon expanded to include Electro and Industrial acts like WUMPSCUT, Terminal Choice, Apoptygma Berzerk and VNV Nation, as well as Synthpop favourites including DE/VISION, Distain and Elegant Machinery.
This broad musical taste continues to shape my personal collection—and ultimately the selection you'll find at DEEJAYDEAD.
WUMPSCUT
One band in particular had a lasting influence on me: WUMPSCUT.
For many years I collected virtually every release, searched worldwide for limited editions, rare pressings and promotional items, and bought, traded and sold them through eBay.
What started as a personal passion gradually became much more than a hobby. After registering a small business, I decided to take the next step and became fully self-employed in April 2007. That marked the birth of DEEJAYDEAD.
The name itself also dates back to those early days. Originally it was my eBay username, inspired by a rare WUMPSCUT release. When I launched my own online shop, it quickly became clear that the name should stay.
In those days I regularly attended concerts and festivals. Among my most memorable live experiences were Silke Bischoff and Deine Lakaien. Today I rarely find the time to attend concerts, as running the shop occupies most of my days. My enthusiasm for the music and the scene, however, has never faded.
More Than Just an Online Store
From the very beginning, my goal was to create the kind of shop that I would personally enjoy buying from.
To me, music has never been just another product. Every album represents the work of a band, a label and often a unique story.
That is why you'll only find music at DEEJAYDEAD that I genuinely believe in and would happily add to my own collection.
Today the shop offers around 10,000 items.
Every regularly listed product is physically in stock. I only offer pre-orders when confirmed quantities have been guaranteed by the supplier.
Another important part of the catalogue consists of limited editions, collector's items and releases from independent labels around the world.
As the official German mail-order partner for Alfa Matrix, Metropolis Records and Projekt, I have worked closely with some of the most respected labels in the dark and underground music scene for many years. In addition, I maintain long-standing partnerships with labels such as Infacted Recordings, Dark Dimensions, Cold Spring, Future Fame, and many others.
Personal. Fair. Professional.
I run DEEJAYDEAD entirely on my own—from purchasing and inventory management to customer service and shipping.
Packaging That Meets a Collector's Standards
As a collector myself, I know how important it is for an order to arrive in perfect condition. That's why every Digipak is additionally protected with a protective sleeve, and every order is packed with great care to ensure it reaches you safely.
Music Has Always Been My Passion
Music continues to be an essential part of my daily life. I enjoy discovering new releases just as much as revisiting classic albums, and I still get excited whenever an outstanding reissue or a long out-of-print release becomes available again.
That passion remains the driving force behind DEEJAYDEAD to this day.
