On “Primary”, the duo's cold wave roots increasingly absorb industrial vibes and spread all the way to the dance floor. 8 songs reflecting the background of their creators, already known for Dead. and Giirls, responsible for some of the best things you could hear from the French cold music scene in the mid-2020s.
Beyond this desire for vocal music, and to a lesser extent more melodic tracks, the brief proved simple: to lay down a Robert Smith-esque vocal over instrumentals reminiscent of The Soft Moon. Two key artists for Brice and Berne, who, with Years Of Shame, encapsulate a time of personal reconnection during dark times. They needed to find an outlet, which manifests itself in these eight opening tracks, which Berne likes to describe as "honest and effective". And the dark and danceable bangers "Heat", "Trust", "Lights", and "Terror" are certainly proof of that. But Years Of Shame plays skillfully with contrasts, becoming heavier on "Faces" and "Primary Choice", and awakening the post-punk beast with "Violence" and "Echoes".
