| Info: | Schrödinger, with their
all new album, are easily one of the the most promising releases on
Swiss Dark Nights in 2026! This Post-punk act, originally from Mexico City and composed by Carlos and Ernesto Carapia, produce a unique sound, hard to compare to other bands of the Postpunk-scene! Their unique sound is under the effects of delays and reverbs to form a nostalgic sonic mood, that evokes depth of synthetic, auditory seas and aural remoteness. The duo combines cold, chaotic vocal feelings with a range of guitars and synthesizers that support a dense and monotonous atmosphere, decaying to the threshold of today's romantic and melancholic darkness. After almost a decade of activity on stage, Schrödinger emerged as a duet to create a first full-length album in late 2020, that was composed by the best of the countless songs, that the band had written over the last decade. The Postpunk-crowds were waiting invane for a follow-up to their debut ‘Last Days on Earth’ since, although 2022 saw at least the release of a limited Live-Album. ‘International Decay’ is more than satisfying the highest expectations! On this their second album, the band demonstrates a huge evolution in their sound. In the band’s own words: “There’s a very noticeable change compared to the previous album. On the first album, we opted for a more minimalist sound, where space and atmosphere played a fundamental role, without losing that nocturnal identity that characterises the band. On this new album, there’s a clear evolution towards a more mature, solid and forceful sound. The compositions, arrangements and production were developed with a more precise approach, seeking greater depth, power and cohesion in each track. We believe it retains the essence of Schrödinger, but presents it with a more defined identity and a much more consolidated sound.” What the band refers to is abundantly clear from the very first track. The sound on this album is on a par with any top-tier European production, achieving a compositional maturity that many established names on the international scene would love to match! ‘International Decay’ is an outstanding album. A showcase of powerful songs with superb guitar work and bass lines that carry the weight of the compositions. Clear examples of this are “Ghost Nation” or “Metal Rain”, two of the standout tracks driven by the strings. Meanwhile, where the keyboards come in to create an immersive and balanced atmosphere, tracks such as “Broken Cities” and “Eleventh Hour” really shine. The album features just one track in Spanish: “Caótica Penumbra”, which features a guest appearance by the legendary Argentine band Euroshima. It’s a more upbeat track, tinged with elegant shades of darkwave and synthwave, where both bands create a fascinating lyrical bridge by exchanging verses in English and Spanish. Finally, the album closes with “Black Room”, a dense and dark track that serves as the perfect finale to a work that does not disappoint and from which you won’t want to skip a single song. 8 outstanding tracks of pure excellence; an impeccable offering from one of the finest exponents of the international post-punk scene today! |
