one of the best (and best selling!) bands on Y&C! RUE OBERKAMPF
is a genre-defying band that blends darkwave, electronic music, and a
haunting aesthetic, captivating audiences worldwide. Their music is a
journey into the depths of sound and emotion, drawing inspiration from
the darker sides of life and art. With a loyal fanbase from the goth-,
electro-, (…) to the techno-scene, they continue to push
boundaries with each new release. After the 2022 album
„Liebe“, Y&C is now presenting the new EP
„Essenz“, which not only presents all new music
from the band in the usual quality, but will also cause a stir with its
elaborate design. Alongside Twin Tribes and Sixth June, this is likely
to be the most eagerly awaited release of the year from Y&C and
will quickly enter the upper reaches of the alternative charts in
Germany and internationally. Musically, there is the usual mix of
different electronic music styles, once again superbly mastered by Eric
von Wonterghem (Absolute Body Control, Insekt, Klinik...), which
guarantees a powerful and modern sound. The musical range is wide... „89 Degrees“ is marvellous Electro-Wave reminiscent of early Client. The title of „Allein“ is reminiscent of Polarkreis 18 from the 2000s, who unfortunately disappeared again very quickly. Atmospheric Electro-Pop with ingratiating vocals. „Solitude“ is danceable Electro that moves away from the Wave-influence and will also get people dancing at better Techno-parties. It is also reminiscent of Boy Harsher here and there. The new single „I won´t surrender“’ is in the same vein, but darker and a little reminiscent of the Future-Pop of the turn of the millennium. You´ll soon be hearing it again and again in Darkwave-clubs. At the end of the „Essence“-EP, things get atmospheric again with „Soror“, which brings back thoughts of the catchier Kirlian Camera songs of the mid 80s to early 90s. This amazing EP ends with the dramatic, melancholic Piano-ballad „Aeterna“, which represents a strong contrast to the danceable tracks before. This makes „Essenz“ a „well-rounded affair“ in the truest sense of the word, which will certainly raise Rue Oberkampf´s profile to new heights. Some people might well declare this EP the „record of the year“. |
