Info: The Norwegian 80’s synthpop sensation Shatoo is back!
In 1987-1988, Shatoo sold over 100.000 records in Norway alone. The single ”Overload” was 11 weeks at Number 1 in Norway, and also the two following singles, ”Dangertown” and ”Santorini” made it into the Number 1 spot. But the story was short-lived, and the singer Dag Brandth released a solo-album in 1988 + a couple of singles, before they disappeared from the scene completely. Earlier this year, the single ”Nothing That I Wouldn’t Do” was released in Norway and did very well on radio, and a comeback-gig was done for 4000 happy campers at Festningen in Halden. Now a new EP is ready, and the title-track ”Floodlights” is reaching far out beyond the Norwegian borders. Also included are remixes by Technomancer and Angst Pop, both of the new track, as well as of the old classic ”Dangertown” and one of Dag’s solo-singles from 1988, ”One Night Love”.
Shatoo in 2013 consists of the two original members, Dag Brandth and Calle Varfjell, as well as Geir Bratland (ex Apoptygma Berzerk) and Per Aksel Lundgreen (ex Apoptygma Berzerk + Cronos Titan/Chinese Detectives/Angst Pop/Rossetti’s Compass). This combined with the awesome production and remix skills of Roy-Julian Digre a.k.a. Technomancer turns Shatoo into an electronic band fit for 2013, but still keeping the 80’s synthpop feeling alive!
